About Me
TANYA OCHOA
I am a first generation Latina college student, currently attending San Francisco State University. I have two AA degrees in both Science & Mathematics and Humanities & Art, a certification in STEM, and currently working toward my Bachelor's in Creative Writing. With this degree I'd be inclined to pursue a career where I can edit, manage, and/or create media. I am particularly passionate about poetry, screenwriting, and comic books.
WRITING
Writing has been my passion since I can remember. It has consistently been my favorite thing to do throughout my life.
I was a poetry staff editor and website design editor for Transfer Magazine in 2022.
I've written award-winning poetry, been published by Transfer magazine, and performed at poetry slams.
In 2022 I wrote my first professional screenplay.
I have published three books which can be purchased on Lulu Press and Amazon using the links provided.
FILM
In 2022, I wrote the script for my first short film We Can't Breathe, directed by Rafael Flores, which follows the story of a teen whose mother develops an illness and must learn how to cope with the stresses of being the eldest child in a first generation Latino household.

BIPOC Film Festival
I helped with the organization of the first annual BIPOC Film Festival held in Dolby Labs San Francisco by transferring, setting up, and breaking down equipment, interviewing filmmakers and organizations that helped promote the festival, designing a flyer, marketing the festival on the Latinx Film Club (San Francisco State University) Instagram, and volunteering to help in other needed areas.
